Fabian Herrera graduated from Purdue University Calumet in 2005 with a construction management engineering technology degree. Over the next 14 years, he worked for a steel bridge fabricator in Northwest Indiana. In 2019, Herrera transitioned to Superior Construction as a project manager.
Herrera and his wife of 15 years have an 11-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter.
